Unlawful Arrest Prevention
Our mission is to prevent targeted unlawful arrests of Black people by police departments across the country. We create educational content on how to strategically respond in the face of police misconduct and outline the best steps to take afterwards to place oneself in an advantageous position to bring a successful civil lawsuit. When an officer has violated an individual’s constitutional rights, police departments often settle lawsuits quickly and quietly. If every victim of an unlawful arrest subsequently files a successful lawsuit, it will financially pressure police departments to stop targeting Black people, while also creating new wealth for Black communities.
Through our Youtube channel, UAP analyzes crowd sourced videos of traffic stops and arrests in order to educate citizens on the most common ways that law enforcement officers may break legal protocol, especially when trying to carry out the unlawful arrest of a black person.
We use these videos as an educational tool, highlighting the tactics cops frequently use during traffic stops and the mistakes that victims usually make under pressure. We hope that by better understanding when a cop has violated the law and how to respond strategically, victims of unlawful arrests will be more effective at bringing lawsuits and wining large payouts.
We hope that our viewers will help us circulate this information by sharing these videos with their friends and families. We want Black people to keep their interactions with the police safe and short as possible, while learning how to effectively document an unlawful arrest so they do not have to rely solely on an officer’s body cam for an audio/video recording of the event to provide as evidence in court.

UAP is also working to develop a database of ethical, effective, and throughly-vetted civil rights attorneys in each of the 50 states. If you have ever brought a lawsuit against a police department and were satisfied with your legal representation, please use this form to let us know who your attorneys were so that we can perform due diligence before posting them on our site as a resource for other victims of police misconduct in need of competent legal representation
Civil Rights Attorney Database
One of Unlawful Arrest Prevention’s primary goals is to create a list of honest, experienced, hardworking, civil rights attorneys who charge reasonable rates. If you are the victim of police misconduct, whether it be an unlawful arrest or an illegal search, it is important to have competent representation. While there are many talented civil rights attorneys out there, they can be hard to find. One reason is that most talented lawyers spend less time and money on marketing, and more on winning their cases. Hiring an unethical attorney can not only lead to your case being dismissed, but you losing whatever you paid in legal fees with nothing to show for it. As we build our database of lawyer referrals, we aim to make it easy for Black people to find effective representation, no matter what state they live in. As we receive referrals from our audience, each state on this page will become a hyperlink leading to a list of pre-vetted attorneys.
